Yuji Hiromatsu served as a Professor in Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Department of Medicine, Kurume University School of Medicine from 2006 to 2019, and President of Kurume University Medical Center from 2015 to 2019. He is now working as a Director, Thyroid Center at Shin Koga Hospital and an Emeritus Professor, Kurume University School of Medicine. He also organized ‘International Symposium on Thyroid-associated Ophthalmopathy’ in 2001 and ‘Centennial of Hashimoto Disease’ in 2012. He has been working as a chair of the Task Force Committee for Japanese Guideline for Graves’ Orbitopathy since 2007. The committee recommends using MRI to assess the GO. MRI is able to show subclinical eye muscle involvement and precisely the site of inflammation, activity and severity of GO. Thus, it is useful for making treatment plan.
