David Ingbar, MD, is Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics and Integrative Biology & Physiology at the University of Minnesota. He is Director of the Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care & Sleep Division and also leads the Clinical & Translational Science Institute's Research Education, Career Development and Training Core.  His education included Reed College, Harvard Medical School, University of Washington and Yale University. He moved to Minnesota in 1991 following time as Assistant Professor of Medicine & Cell Biology at Yale.  His research interest is in the repair of the injured lung, with a particular focus on the roles of the alveolar epithelium and clearance of pulmonary edema. He is P.I. of two ARDS current clinical trials.  National leadership includes service as Past President of the American Thoracic Society, the American Board of Internal Medicine's Pulmonary Board and currently the NIH National Heart, Lung & Blood Institute Advisory Council.  His NIH funding includes being P.I. of a longstanding NIH T32 training grant and of the CTSI KL2 Program.
