Professor of Head and Neck Surgery in the Department of Surgical Oncology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. For the last 20 years Dr. Gonzalez lead a research team in the Biomedical Research Consortium (BMRC), focused on translational research in cancer biomarkers. His team has focused on novel proprietary cutting edge bioinformatics and genomics to create highly accurate diagnostic assays for precision medicine serving unmet needs of molecular cytology space. His group has developed and clinically validated genetic classifier, ThyroidPrint®, a new 10-gene q-PCR test for thyroid nodules indeterminate cytology. ThyroidPrint is first of its kind test available in Latin America, showing best-in-class clinical performance. A promising pipeline of new genomic tests is currently underway, including thyroid, lung, and gastric cancer. Dr Gonzalez obtained his MD and Ph.D. at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and performed his clinical fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He currently has an active clinical practice focused in head and neck endocrine surgery with extensive experience in the management of locally advanced and recurrent thyroid cancer.
