Ana Aranda is an “Ad Honorem” Research Professor of the Spanish Research Council at the Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas (IIB) of Madrid. She got her Ph.D in Biology at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, and after a post-doctoral period at New York University Medical Center, she established her own research group at the IIB. She has been Director of the IIB and Institutional Coordinator of the Spanish Research Council in the Autonomous Community of Madrid. She was awarded the Aldo Pinchera Prize of the European Thyroid Association and the Lilly Medal of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology, among other scientific prizes. Her laboratory is involved in studies of the mechanisms of transcriptional regulation of gene expression by the thyroid hormone receptors and in their role in different pathophysiological processes including cell proliferation, cancer, fibrosis or the immune system.
