Tim Korevaar, MD,
PhD is
a postdoctoral fellow at Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands. Tim
studied medicine at the Erasmus University Medical Center and obtained his PhD (cum
laude) entitled ‘thyroid hormone availability during pregnancy and early life:
determinants, interpretation and consequences’ at the Academic Center for
Thyroid Diseases. He obtained an MSc in clinical epidemiology at the
Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences (2015), was a visiting research scholar
at the Oxford Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism (2010) and
the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (2017) and a visiting clinical
fellow in Obstetric Medicine at the St. Thomas hospital in London (2020). With
his research, he aims to translate gestational and thyroid physiology into
clinically relevant epidemiological studies, mainly focusing on thyroid function
and glucose metabolism during fertility and pregnancy. Tim has been the
recipient of the British Thyroid Award (2014), ECE Young Investigator Award (2016),
the Society for Endocrinology Early Career Clinical Lectureship Award (2016)
and the Early Career Award of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences
(2020). He has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 4 book chapters
and is the coordinator of the Consortium on Thyroid and Pregnancy.
