Naoko Arata

Naoko Arata is Head of Division of Maternal Medicine at Center for Maternal-Fetal-Neonatal and Reproductive Medicine in National Center for Child Health and Development. She graduated from Medical School of Hiroshima University and following initial training in Hiroshima, moved to Tokyo. She did a fellowship in internal medicine and subsequently undertook diabetes and endocrinology at Medical School of Keio University in Tokyo and Yokohama Municipal Citizen’s Hospital in Yokohama city. She also did a research fellowship in Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Arata then returned to Tokyo and started to do as a clinician and clinical researcher in National Center for Child Health and Development in Tokyo. She has been working as an obstetric physician and a sub-specialist in Diabetes and Endocrinology. She also is a staff of Drug Information Institute in Pregnancy (JDIP) in Japan.

Research

She has been involved and continues to head up, very important research in areas such as: Thyroid in pregnancy, Diabetes in pregnancy, Nutrition in pregnancy, Preconception health care and life course health approach.
