Mitsuru Ito, MD, PhD, is Director at the Department of Internal Medicine, Center for Excellence in Thyroid Care, Kuma Hospital, Kobe, Japan. He was graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Kagawa University, Japan in 1990. He obtained PhD from the Department of Internal Medicine, Osaka Medical College, Japan in 1999. He was engaged in a research as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Internal Medicine, Osaka Medical College and became an Assistant Professor in 2003. He has been working in the Department of Internal Medicine, Kuma Hospital since 2005. Dr. Ito is an active member of Japan Thyroid Association and The Endocrine Society (USA). Dr. Ito's academic interests include triiodothyronine-predominant Graves’ disease, disturbed metabolism of lipoprotein in hypothyroidism, and series of study clarified the pitfall of LT4 monotherapy in athyreotic or atrophic thyroid patients.
