Frédéric FLAMANT received a Ph.D. from Université Claude Bernard in Lyon in 1986. He is an employee of Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, Alimentation et Environnement. Since 2007 he is also deputy director of Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle de Lyon, at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon. His research is focussed on basic questions related to thyroid hormone signaling and its nuclear receptors. Using mouse genetics as a tool, he explores the neurodevelopmental function of thyroid hormone. He also addresses the possibility that thyroid hormone disruptors alter neurodevelopment, and the relationships between the central and peripheral functions of thyroid hormone.
